Scoil Ruáin honours the memory of the victims of Bloody Sunday

Bloody Sunday History remembered in Scoil Ruáin

Students at Scoil Ruáin remembered the victims of Bloody Sunday 1920 as we remembered the anniversary of this sad event. Junior students participated in a 30 question online quiz and watched a documentary based on the excellent book “A Bloodied Field” by Michael Foley. Transition Years completed a research project on the 14 victims and the Tipperary Players, many of whom were from clubs in the local area and who played against Dublin on that fateful day. The winning projects were based on Jerry Shelly, Corner back for Tipperary on the day and the other one was on one of the victims, James Teehan from Gortnahoe. The winners were as follows: 1st Year Quiz – Fred Perry, 2nd Year Quiz – Alisha Brennan, 3rd year Quiz – Abbie McMonagle, TY Project Winners – Lorena Wuethrich and Anna Chirubvu. A big thanks to Ms. Phiala Ryan, Mr. Paul O’Dwyer and Mr. Cian Corcoran for organising such an inspiring competition for our students.
