Tipperary Student Enterprise Awards

The following Scoil Ruain Students represented Scoil Ruain in the Tipperary Enterprise Awards on Friday March 9th in LIT Thurles. First Years in the Junior Category were

Clodagh Horan and Meibh O’Loughlin with their business name M.C Phone Accessories. The girls used recycled gift cards to create a simple and convenient way of storing earphones for your mobile phone when not in use. They came up with the idea having spent time untangling their own head phones. The girls were awarded special merit for their idea and product. Also in the Junior Category were Ben Bourke and Nathan Lawlor. Their business name was N & B Cakes. Ben and Nathan made tasty butterfly buns and delicious chocolate biscuit cake. Nathan is passionate about baking and Ben used his knowledge about business to promote the idea and impress the judges at the competition.

Sean Prendergast TY represented the school in the Senior Category. Sean made and sold a variety of wood products from kindling which he made from splitting old pallets to Wooden snowmen decorations for the Christmas Market. Sean added to his product list by making his own wooden garden furniture which he had on display on the date. Such was Sean’s obvious hard work and ability to see a gap in the market for products, he was awarded the AIB Entrepreneur Award. This prize is awarded to only one student throughout all categories and so it is a very prestigious award and one that comes with €250 prize money from AIB. A great day was had by all students. Well done to all.
